Finding our Destiny

A few years ago when I read the Alchemist for the first time, my mind was blown, my heart opened and my soul lit the fuck on fire. I had no idea what type of path I was embarking on or what magic lie ahead, but I knew I was ready. Like Santiago answering the call of his soul, embarking on a solo journey based on intuition and inner truth, I felt shifts happening on a deep, cellular level within my being. Page after page, I felt the call to go on my own journey, listening to and answering the stirrings within my heart. Just as I had no idea what type of amazing journey I was in for, I also had no idea the pain and darkness I’d have to transcend along the way.

Night after night, I’d lie awake wondering what my destiny was and if I was living my purpose. I would beg God to show me why I’m here. Afraid I was missing something, I questioned my career(s), hobbies, relationships and my life decisions up until that point. Chasing the idea of “finding my destiny and purpose” like a traveler in the desert; the mirage in the distance fooling the mind into an enticing journey leading nowhere. It was a very uncomfortable place to be; but even then, in the midst of it, I knew I was experiencing it for a reason.

I’m grateful for every night I contemplated my life, every page of that book that brought a new realization, every fear and doubt that I had. For, without them, how would I have seen the truth? How would I have seen my own light, my own answers, MY truth?

From where I stand today, I see destiny from a different perspective. I’ve come to know destiny as a decision we choose to make by diving deep into the internal web of beliefs and emotions within the mind and body.

Our destiny is directly linked to our personal power.

Personal power is directly linked to clearing our channel.

Clearing our channel is a result of deep inner work; releasing emotional trauma, questioning our beliefs and accepting our experiences. Transcending the pain and resistance by diving in head first to explore it.

As we shine the light into our darkness, we are able to release it; to alchemize it. To turn those wounded, scared parts of ourselves into the very light illuminating our path. There is no shame in exploring these hidden parts; only power.

We start to find our personal power when we love and accept every part of ourselves. We can only love and accept these parts by knowing them. SEEING them. Not falling into the victim mentality based on the stories we’ve attached to these lost parts of ourselves.

As we step into this place of truth and power, we start to build a deeper relationship with the Divine/God; the higher power responsible for this magical universe. We also learn how to use our own individual magic to create the life we desire.

This process begins when we change our perspective and invite in unconditional love, forgiveness and gratitude for all of our experiences; especially for the teachers we encounter throughout life. Generally, these are people whom we’ve experienced the most pain and growth with. In doing this, we energetically invite others into this space of love and vulnerability. Like a tuning fork, we raise the vibration of everything around us.

The resistance fades and the flow begins. We stop being controlled by years of anger and unforgiveness. We stop telling ourselves the story over and over again of why we can’t trust people or why we behave a certain way when triggered. We write a new story and embody it.

This is how we transcend years of buried pain, trauma and neglected feelings. We wake up. We move through the darkness and into the light.

We find our power. And to find our power and live in it, my dear, is our destiny.
